At In-Sync Pediatric Therapy Center, our professional therapists work with children with special needs to help them live successful and safe lives. With services such as speech therapy (ST), physical therapy (PT), and occupational therapy (OT), we are well-rounded to provide all the therapeutic services a child may need to thrive. In addition to ST, PT, and OT, we provide the option for children to take part in supplement therapy treatments, such as therapeutic listening therapy, sensory integration therapy, and Handwriting Without Tears. Speech Therapy

Our speech language pathologists support children in reaching their age-appropriate potential and find their full range of skills so that they can have an improved quality of life.

Speech therapy helps with:

  • Speech Sound Delays and Disorders including Articulation, Phonological and Childhood Apraxia of Speech
  • Receptive and Expressive Language Acquisition and Disorders
  • Feeding and Swallowing Delays and Disorders using training such as Beckman Oral Motor and SOS Feeding Therapy
  • Fluency including Stuttering
  • Social Communication Skills
  • Literacy Skills
  • Aural Rehabilitation
  • Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) such as sign language, Picture Exchange Communication (PECS) or using a device or app on an iPad or tablet to communicate

In addition, our speech therapists will work with the family to instruct them how to support the child and be a resource that the family may ask any questions or concerns.

Occupational Therapy

A child’s primary occupation is play. The focus of occupational therapy in the pediatric population is meeting the needs of both children and their caregivers so that they may reach functional goals related to their occupations. In children, play is the main means of learning and development.

A child uses play to build skills needed for every aspect of their development. When a child is limited in the underlying skills needed to play, not only does their functional ability to build with blocks, color, pretend, imagine, and create suffer, but all of the skills they potentially acquire throughout life may be limited as well.

Our occupational therapists are dedicated to working with your entire family to develop the functional skills necessary to assist children and family members in living successfully. This is established with progressive and collaborative work on the following functional skills:

  • Fine Motor Skills
  • Visual Motor Skills
  • Hand-eye coordination
  • Feeding Skills related to self-feeding and use of utensils
  • Feeding Skills related to sensory aversions and picky eating/problem feeding
  • Coordination of the whole body
  • Feeling comfortable with the positioning and movement of their body during daily activities
  • Sensory Integration and/or Modification
  • Community Integration
  • Acquisition and use of Adaptive Equipment
  • Environmental Modification
  • Basic self-care techniques (ADLs and IADLs)
  • Paying attention
  • Regulating Emotions

Our occupational therapists can also assist your family with finding community resources and transitional services as well as provide family training to improve overall family success and your confidence and ability to advocate for your child.

Physical Therapy

Our physical therapists work with children and their families so that children can reach their full range of motion and potential. We work with children from birth through adolescence with health problems related to injury, disease, or congenital conditions. We look at the child’s gait and pace when walking, their coordination and balance, range of motion, and the pressure they can apply while playing.

Physical therapy supports:

  • Gross motor development
  • Motor planning
  • Balance
  • Proprioception
  • Improving muscle tone, strength, and development
  • Range of movement
  • Hand-eye coordination
  • Attention to tasks
  • Adaptive Equipment
  • Adaptive Equipment Training
  • Assessing for Orthotics
